COOLIT1000 FAQ'S

How loud is the COOLIT1000?

The COOLIT1000 units are designed for indoor applications and we use advanced compressor technology to further reduce mechanical noise. The blowers or fans are all centrifugal type and reduce the air noise of the unit. The dB rating for this unit varies because of the installation methods but is typically less than 52 dB.

Does the unit make water? What happens with the condensate?

Yes, the COOLIT1000 is a true air conditioner and some moisture is removed from the air which results in condensate. The condensate collects in the condensate tank located behind the bottom front door. When the tank fills up the unit will shut off to prevent condensate overflow.

How often will I need to empty the tank?

Condensate generation is based on various temperature and humidity levels as well as user installation and control settings. In the warm, humid summer months the amount of condensate generated will be greater than in the cool, dry winter months. Maximum condensate generation is .26 gallons per hour.

How large is the condensate tank?

The internal condensate tank holds approximately two quarts. When the tank is full the COOLIT1000 will shut off to prevent condensate overflow. You must empty the tank and properly reseat the tank in the compartment before the unit will operate.

What if I need to run my COOLIT1000 24/7?

The COOLIT1000 has an optional external condensate pump that can be installed to allow continuous uninterrupted cooling. The pump has a 15’ lift capability which will get you up to the drop ceiling level and allow for connection to a drain line.

How long can the condensate line be?

The COOLIT1000 has a condensate pump option that comes with 25' of 3/8" plastic tubing.  You may require more tubing than what is supplied with the pump.  You can either attach the new section of tubing to the supplied tubing with a coupler or purchase a new section of tubing to fit the required length of your condensate drain line.  You can go as far with the tubing as long as you keep the tubing sloping down at an angle.  Again if you need to go a long distance to your drain then we recommend that you go up as much as you can (up to 15') then go towards your drain with the tubing sloping down at an angle.

Do I need to vent the unit to the outside?

No, you do not need to vent the COOLIT1000 to the outside. If you are cooling an enclosed equipment environment you do need to discharge the condenser air (warm air) out of the space you are trying to cool. The accessory ducting kit, included with each unit, will allow for condenser air discharge into the ceiling plenum area, out a window or through a wall.

How far can I duct the unit?

The accessory ducting kit that comes with the COOLIT1000 is enough to reach the ceiling of a standard commercial building. You can add a few more feet of ducting but you must keep your duct run as straight as possible. The maximum duct run for the condenser air is 20’. For each 90 degree bend you must subtract 10’ from your maximum duct run length. If you are ducting the condenser air into the ceiling you already have one 90 degree bend coming out of the unit so that would allow a maximum duct run of 10’ going straight up into the ceiling.

What kind of maintenance is required?

Unit maintenance is quick and easy. The COOLIT1000 has a totally sealed refrigeration system. It should not be necessary to recharge your unit. The only regular preventative maintenance is cleaning the washable filter. If you have installed an optional condensate pump you need to keep the drain line clear.

What do I need to do if I am going to store the unit?

Before storing the unit you want to ensure the evaporator coil is dry and the condensate is emptied from the tank. To do this you would unplug the flash-pan drain tube so the condensate from the upper flash pan drains into the condensate tank. Next you would operate the COOLIT1000 in the fan mode for about 5 minutes to dry out the evaporator coil and get all the moisture off of the coil. Turn the unit off, empty the condensate tank, and wipe down the cabinet with a soft cloth and mild detergent. Your COOLIT1000 will be in prime shape when your next cooling need arises.

COOLIT 1000 Application FAQ'S

How large of an area can I cool with the COOLIT1000?

That depends on what is in the area you are trying to cool. All air conditioning units are rated in BTU, or British Thermal Unit, which is a unit of measure. There are 12,000 BTU to 1 ton of air conditioning. For equipment cooling we need to determine the amount of power being used by the equipment in the room so we can do a basic heat load calculation.

How cold can I get my LAN room?

There is no way to tell. The COOLIT1000 will give you approximately a 20°F temperature differential – for instance, if your room is 80°F, the unit will deliver approximately 60°F air. This does not mean that your room will be 60°F. . . that all depends on the heat load in the room.

Can I put the COOLIT1000 on my UPS?

Absolutely, as long as the UPS is properly sized.
TOP OF PAGE

Can I plug into an extension cord?

We do not recommend that you operate the COOLIT1000 using an extension cord.
TOP OF PAGE

Do I need a dedicated circuit to run the COOLIT1000?

The COOLIT1000 is a mechanical device and could potentially put noise onto the line when the compressor starts and stops. A dedicated line is not required but would certainly be recommended if your computer and electronic equipment is not protected by a UPS or surge suppresser.

What other accessory items do I need for my application?

The COOLIT1000 comes complete with the accessory ducting kit for the condenser air. The standard ducting kit allows you to duct the warm air into the drop ceiling area, a return air duct, out a window or through a wall.

Who can I get to install my COOLIT1000?

The COOLIT1000 is designed for quick set-up.  IF YOU CAN UNPACK THE BOX, YOU CAN SET UP THE UNIT.  Installation requires no tools; accessory parts simply slide in place or snap together. If you elect to use the optional condensate pump you may require the services of a handyman or plumber, depending on the location of your condensate drain line.
